Update From Spring Break

As is all too common with my blogging attempts, I've completely failed to update regularly or even accomplish any of what I set as goals... ie posting my gencom files and pictures to the site. Of course there is a logical explanation to my delinquency, that explanation being school in general and more specifically my 7:30am german class.

All of that aside, life has had one interesting twist after another lately. My brother has recently came to the conclusion that it would be wise to uproot his family from NW Arkansas and move them to somewhere in South Florida, where they will have more opportunities for recreation (because according to him it is too cold to do anything outdoors for 2/3 of the year in Arkansas). They have a severe inability to cope with cold weather, or even moderately cool for that matter. Therefore, I must move out of the house and into an apartment soon. I was supposed to be looking for one this week, but apparently decided that spring break is for sleeping rather than productive activities such as apartment seeking.

A friend in my Anthropology class recently invited me to join an Asatru group of which he is a member. The group devoted to studying the Norse/Celtic Pagan religions (mainly the Eddas) and studying early European history/ language. Despite not being Pagan, or particularly religious at all, the opportunity to sit around and drink beer and read Norse war epics intrigues me to no end. I will have to give these people a shot.

Also, the Democrats recently passed the Government Health Care bill through congress recently. According to most reports on Fox News and other stations, the end of the world is night and Obama is the antichrist. Perhaps. But then again those same reports also said that with socialized health care comes Facism and Nazis. Most people seem to also believe that higher taxes and Satan worship are somehow intertwined. This seems to me contradictory, considering Socialism and Facism are on completely opposite sides of the political spectrum and sometimes higher taxes are necessary sources for government income. Who knows what will happen with this bill before it takes affect, maybe Republicans will find a way to knock it back down again and save those Holy Insurance Companies any lost profits.

I've taken this opportunity to put up just a few images from my phone from the Tyr and Korpiklaani concert I went to in Tulsa about two months back. My musical tastes have really fallen from the atleast 'heard of them' into the fully obscure. Lately my playlists have comprised of various viking and folk metal bands such as the afore mentioned as well as Amon Amarth, Alestorm, Finntroll and other melodic metal bands. As is my motto with music, 'just because its good doesn't mean its popular, and just because its popular doesn't mean its good'. I'm open to suggestion to any other metal bands out there (preferably without gutterals or atleast tolerable gutterals).
